Megan MottoConnect

Megan Motto FGIA
Chief Executive

Prior to her appointment as Chief Executive at Governance Institute, Megan was the CEO of Consult Australia, the association for professional services firms within the built and natural environment. Megan is also currently a Director of Standards Australia and a National Director for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).

Megan has a BA/BEd, an MA in Communications Management and is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.


David O'Kane AGIA ACG
Chief Operations Officer

David joined Governance Institute of Australia in February 2022, with considerable commercial experience and over 15 years in senior roles in the for-purpose sector, including as COO at the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) and with Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia (MSF). David's responsibilities include finance, IT, people and culture, risk management, legal and compliance, and property.

David holds a BA in Economics & Public Policy, is a qualified accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and completed the Governance Institute's Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance in 2007.

Leon CoxConnect

Leon Cox
General Manager, Membership & Engagement

Prior to joining Governance Institute, Leon was Advisor to the CEO at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. His previous roles have been with CPA Australia and the RACV Club.

Leon holds a Bachelor of Business, Human Resources and Hospitality Management from Victoria University. Leon also holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment from the University of Melbourne, Training Services Department.

Catherine MaxwellConnect


Catherine Maxwell FGIA FCG
General Manager, Policy & Advocacy

Catherine’s team is responsible for policy, advocacy and advising on media and government relations. Her background includes roles as a senior manager at APRA and as secretariat for the revision of the ASX Corporate Governance Council’s Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations, 2e. She also held policy and governance roles at the AICD and the Financial Services Council.

Catherine holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney and worked as a lawyer in Sydney and Hong Kong for ten years. Catherine was previously company secretary at The Cancer Council NSW.

Mark WilbournConnect

Mark Wilbourn
General Manager, Education

Mark joined Governance Institute following a career in health education in universities in the United Kingdom and Australia. The education team supports Governance Institute’s objective of being the leading provider of accredited postgraduate education in governance practice. Governance Institute offers graduate certificates/ diplomas in governance and risk management.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Biology) from the University of Portsmouth, a Certificate in Education: Post 16 from Sheffield Hallam University, and a Master of Science (Interprofessional Health and Social Care) from Canterbury Christ Church University. Mark is also undertaking a PhD at Western Sydney University.

Leanne Ryan

Leanne has over 25 years of business experience and effective leadership after holding senior operations and business development roles in the healthcare, health technology and aged care sectors in the Asia Pacific region.

Leanne is passionate about creating superior customer experiences and is skilled in developing operational infrastructures to accommodate business growth. Leanne also has a background in education.

Susan BradbrookConnect

Susan Bradbrook
State Manager, SA, NT & TAS

Susan is Fellow of the National Institute of Accountants. She has previously held positions of accountant, state administration manager and in customer relations/ marketing.

Susan is on the board of CARA (Community Accommodation and Respite Agency) which is one of South Australia’s largest charities working in partnership with people living with a disability, their families and the community to create a better life. 


Justin Samlal
State Manager, VIC

Justin has over 15 years of experience within the recruitment sector, having founded his own consultancy specialising in placing executives within the engineering sector across Asia Pacific. He has also worked in mid-sized agencies specialising in executive search and general management. In the last two years Justin transitioned from the recruitment industry to the learning and development sector working with a leading global leadership training company as the sales director for Australia and New Zealand.

Justin brings with him a passion for business development, fostering long term relationships and people management.



David Orr
State Manager, NSW & ACT 

David is a senior corporate and partnership development specialist with over 20 years experience working with business leaders, key industry groups, universities and government agencies, driving strategic projects and commercial engagement across multiple industry sectors.

David brings with him extensive knowledge of business based member organisations, having led strategy across membership development, advocacy and industry partnerships.


Steven Coghlan
State Manager, WA

Prior to joining the Governance Institute, Steve held various senior roles in both the corporate and government sector. Steve joined Governance Institute as a member in early 2020. He brings a wealth of recent advocacy and membership service experience coupled with a well-established network across both corporate and government sectors.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomas in Business, Personnel Management and Administration.
