Interview: Simon Pordage — Strategic role of the company secretary

We speak with Governance Institute Brand Ambassador and Group Company Secretary of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) Simon Pordage FGIA FCG about how the role of the company secretary has evolved.

Simon is a speaker on the Company Secretaries panel at
Melbourne's Governance and Risk Management Forum.

‘I've been told I am a rare beast — a career company secretary.’ says Simon Pordage, Group Company Secretary for ANZ and Brand Ambassador and past President of Governance Institute of Australia. When Simon completed his law degree in the UK, he did not know what he wanted to do with his degree. 'I had a couple of half-hearted interviews at large law firms and professional services firms, but I did not want to go back for another year in law school and then articles. I wanted to get stuck in, roll my sleeves up, and start a career.'
